I developed "Resurgence" by experimenting with ascending scales on a piano, and then notated in MuseScore with string instrument voices selected for playback. It is actually a fairly simple set of patterns, well within my ability to play on piano, but effective. It lifts from a somber beginning to a determinedly hopeful resolution, probably a reflection of my mood while under state-wide lock-down order.
I tell people that "Resurgence" is my "working from home during the age of coronavirus" music. I call it that because I composed it while working on my clients' presentations about pandemic-related changes in the meetings and events industry.
